Description
Hawthorn Cottage is a single-storey, three-bay cottage built around 1840, featuring a half-pitched addition to the east. The main structure is made of squared whinstone with sandstone margins and quoins, while the eastern addition is rendered.
On the main elevation, there is a boarded door at the center, with a narrow fanlight above that has been blinded and now displays "Hawthorn Cottage No 81." Flanking the door are windows. To the left, there is a lower lean-to addition made of ashlar sandstone, which includes a window. The cottage has 12-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, and ashlar coping at the skews, with coped apex stacks.
The boundary wall surrounding the property is a low rubble and mortar wall topped with semi-circular coping, which sweeps upwards on the west side.
