Description
Alderdale is a single-storey, three-bay cottage built in the earlier to mid 19th century. The structure features a rectangular plan and is constructed from whinstone and sandstone rubble, accented with pink sandstone margins and dressings. It has stone mullions and chamfered arrises, along with decorative fretted bargeboards.
On the south elevation, there is a modern wooden tongue and groove porch, with windows on the returns. The cottage has flanking bipartite windows and catslide dormer heads that break the eaves above. A modern addition has been made at the rear.
The windows are 6-pane timber casements, and the roof is covered with graded grey slate, featuring lead flashings and corniced sandstone apex stacks.
The boundary wall is made of whinstone and topped with boulder coping.
