Description
Tigh A Mhaoir is a cottage from the earlier to mid 19th century, featuring a single storey and a three-bay rectangular plan with a parallel rectangular range at the rear. The exterior is made of painted rubble with pink sandstone margins and dressings, and it has decorative bargeboards.
On the south elevation, the main entrance is centrally located with a two-leaf boarded door and a gable that breaks the eaves above. There are flanking windows and modern wooden window boxes. The left gable elevation has a gable at the outer left with a window at the ground level, and a wooden porch in the re-entrant angle to the right. The gable is recessed to the outer right with a window at the centre.
On the right gable elevation, there is a gable at the outer right with a window in the centre. A block is advanced to the outer left with a window on the right and a lean-to block against the gable. The cottage features four-pane timber sash and case windows, a graded grey slate roof with lead flashings, and narrow octagonal sandstone corniced ridge stacks with octagonal cans.
