62, 64 Main Street, Ratho

62 and 64 Main Street in Ratho is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house that is rendered with sandstone dressings.

The south elevation facing the street features windows that are evenly spaced, with three on the ground floor and three slightly narrower ones on the first floor. There is evidence of a blocked opening between the bays on the right, which was originally the main front but is now the rear. At the center, there is a shaped pediment above the eaves made of droved sandstone, which contains an armorial panel with bolection moulding.

The west elevation is a gable end with a window on both the ground and first floors to the right, and it includes scrolled skewputts.

The north elevation, which is the rear, has been reconstructed and consists of a five-bay main block arranged in groups of two and three on both the ground and first floors. There is an entrance wing that projects from the outer left.

The house features 12-pane sash and case windows, a red pantiled roof with semi-circular ridge tiles, and ashlar coping to the skews. The west gable has scrolled skewputts, while the east end has a broad coped stack and the west gablehead has a narrow coped stack.
