Description
7 Teindhillgreen in Duns is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay L-plan house featuring a classical front. The building is constructed of coursed stugged cream sandstone, with rubble on the sides and rear, and has ashlar dressings.
The south (front) elevation has a base course and regular window arrangement, with raised margins and bracketed cills, quoin strips, and a block dentilled cornice. At the center, there is a Tuscan Doric pilastered doorpiece topped with a similar heavy cornice; the entrance features a panelled door with a 12-pane rectangular fanlight. To the right, there is a later flat-roofed single-storey rendered bay that includes a bipartite timber window.
On the west elevation, there are windows on both floors to the left and one in the gablehead to the right. The north (rear) elevation has a large piend-roofed projecting bay on the left, which includes a window at the first floor. The east elevation features a harled gable end.
The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, grey slate roofing, ashlar coped skews, and rebuilt brick apex stacks, one of which is rendered with a vestigial ashlar base.
The boundary walls consist of a low ashlar coped rubble front wall, with rubble walls on the sides and rear.
