1 Teindhillgreen, Duns

1 Teindhillgreen in Duns is an early 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay house located at the end of a terrace. The building is constructed from roughly coursed whinstone, featuring long and short sandstone dressings with raised margins. The windows are arranged in a regular pattern.

The south elevation is symmetrical, with a slightly advanced central bay that has a pediment and quoins. At the ground level, there is a flush-panelled door with a rectangular plate glass fanlight above it, and a small closet window to the left. The first floor has a blind window that is painted to resemble a window, and there is a blind oculus in the pediment above. A large brick chimney stack rises from the apex. Each of the flanking bays has a window on both floors, and there is a Velux rooflight on the left side.

The east elevation has two bays that adjoin the terrace, with windows on both floors. The right window at ground level has been inserted into what was formerly a doorcase. There is a piend-roofed canted dormer on this side.

The north elevation is made of rubble and features a blocked door or window at ground level, with a window to the left on the first floor. There is also a Velux rooflight on this elevation.

The windows throughout the house are 12-pane timber sash and case, although the north elevation has modern tilt and swing windows. The roof is piended and covered with modern grey slates, and there are engineering brick chimney stacks.
