Description
53 Old Town in Peebles is an early 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay terraced house. It is constructed of rubble whinstone with ashlar margins. The ground floor features a central panelled and glazed door, flanked by enlarged windows, while there are windows in each bay on the first floor and high eaves. The east gable has an attic window on the right side.
The rear elevation is irregular, with three bays and harled finish, featuring three large Velux rooflights.
The house has timber sash and case windows, with three-pane upper sashes and two-pane lower sashes on the ground floor, and plate glass on the first floor. The roof is covered with grey slates, and it has ashlar coped skews and coped rubble stacks, although the stacks on the east side have been removed.
The interior was not seen in 1994.
