Description
Glenharvey Cottage is a suburban cottage built around 1885, featuring a symmetrical single storey and attic design with three bays. It is attached at a right angle to the end of a two-storey terrace. The cottage is constructed from whinstone, accented with cream sandstone dressings. Notable architectural details include stop-chamfered arrises and overhanging eaves that reveal exposed rafters.
At the center, there is a gabled timber porch supported by square columns with fluted capitals. The porch features a panelled door with a plate glass letterbox fanlight, flanked by bipartite windows that have hoodmoulds that step up at the center. The roof includes a pair of canted piend-roofed timber dormers. The return elevations showcase narrow round-headed windows with keystones in the gableheads, while the ground floor has two windows to the west and later French windows (from the kitchen) to the east. There is a small lean-to outbuilding to the east.
The cottage is fitted with timber sash and case windows, featuring four-pane upper sashes and two-pane lower sashes. The roof is covered with purple-grey slates, complemented by terracotta ridge tiles and finials, and has coped stacks with sandstone dressings and round cans.
Inside, there is a panelled lobby door with an etched glass panel. The eastern garden is enclosed by a rubble boundary wall topped with boulder coping.
