Description

Circa 1880. Single storey and attic 3-bay suburban cottage. Whinstone with cream sandstone ashlar margins and long and short bull-faced quoins. Overhanging eaves and exposed rafters. Stop-chamfered arrises.

E (FRONT) ELEVATION: panelled door at centre with rectangular fanlight; elaborate scrolled timber brackets support gabled canopy with foliate scrolled bargeboarding and mask at apex. Window to left with gabled dormerhead; decorative scrolled bargeboarding. Slightly advanced gabled right bay; flat-roofed canted ashlar window at ground with base course and cornice; window in gablehead.

S ELEVATION: broad gable with window to left; lean-to car port at ground.

N ELEVATION: blank with later addition at ground to right; wallhead stack at centre.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: gabled bay to left; gabled timber dormer to right.

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slates; whinstone stacks with sandstone dressings; octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

FRONT WALL AND GATE: low sandstone base for (missing) railings; open timber pedestrian gate to front door.
