Dovecot, Ravelston House, Ravelston Dykes Road, Edinburgh

The Dovecot at Ravelston House on Ravelston Dykes Road in Edinburgh dates from the late 18th century and has been converted into a house. It is a two-storey, double lectern dovecot made of rubble sandstone, featuring a string course at the first floor and an eaves course.

On the south elevation, there are single windows in the outer bays at the ground floor, with matching single windows above on the first floor. The roof is adorned with two pigeon posts and ball finials at the top of the skews. To the right, there is a modern house extension.

The west elevation has a single window, while the north elevation features a blind wall that belongs to the original dovecot. The east wall has a modern extension.

The main elevation of the dovecot includes 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the extension has modern glazing. The skews are straight. The interior was not seen in 2001.
