Description
The lodge at Tyneholm in Easter Pencaitland was built after 1907 and features a single storey and basement design. It is constructed from stugged sandstone that is squared and snecked, with ashlar dressings and a base course.
The west elevation has three bays, with the outer left bay being gabled and advanced, featuring a canted window with crude mullions and a blocking course. There is a doorway in the re-entrant angle at the center and a window in the outer right bay.
The north elevation has two bays, with two widely grouped windows and a shouldered wallhead stack at the center. The south elevation includes the original gabled bay to the left, which has a canted window similar to the west elevation, a bipartite window at the center, and a single window in the outer bay, which is part of a later extension on falling ground.
The east elevation features a piend-roofed later addition that projects to the left and includes a basement, with a door on the north return. There is also a door at the rear of the original lodge that leads to a flight of steps to the gabled bay on the right. The windows have a small-pane glazing pattern in the upper sashes, with two-pane or plate glass in the lower sashes. The gable has arrow slits, gablet coped skews, and bracketed skewputts, all covered with grey-green slates.
The quadrants and piers consist of rubble quadrant walls to the north with semi-circular coping. There are four square ashlar gate piers with pyramidal caps, and those flanking the drive have a frieze.
