Nw Cottage, Tyneholm Cottages, Wester Pencaitland

Nw Cottage, located at Tyneholm Cottages in Wester Pencaitland, was built in 1881. It is a single-storey and attic symmetrical pair of three-bay cottages constructed from squared and snecked sandstone rubble, featuring bull-faced stone with narrow ashlar margins and chamfered arrises around the openings. The main elevation faces the roadside and includes a square panel with the monogram "AT" at the center. Each flanking bay has a stone mullioned bipartite window, while the doorways are located in the penultimate bays and are topped with strip fanlights. There is a narrow single window in each outer bay.

The cottages have gabled timber dormers that feature bipartite windows with sidelights and decorative timber brackets, with the dormerheads also marked with the date 1881. Lean-to stone porches are present on the north and south elevations, each with a single window in the gableheads. The sash and case windows are fitted with plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, complemented by purple slates forming a later vertical eaves course on the main elevation. A coped mutual stack is positioned at the center of the roof. Additionally, there are retaining walls flanking the cottages to the north and south.
