Description
Wester Pencaitland Farm is a building dating from around 1840, originally serving as a 5-bay cartshed and granary in the northern range of the farmstead, which has since been converted for residential use. The structure is built from squared and snecked cream sandstone rubble, featuring droved ashlar dressings. The north side has five segmental cart arches, with a granary opening above each arch; currently, three of these arches are blocked and have been converted into windows, while the granary openings have been glazed. There is a hayloft door in the east gable, and a wide bay is raised in a swept dormerhead at the rear. The roof is covered with pantiles, and there are ashlar coped skews and skylights. Pantile coping is also present on the adjoining walls.
