1 Crumstane Farm Cottages, Crumstane

1 Crumstane Farm Cottages, dated 1882 with later alterations and additions, is a row of three single-storey, three-bay cottages. The cottages are constructed from stugged squared and snecked sandstone, featuring stop-chamfered droved ashlar arrises. The side elevations are made of roughly stugged squared and snecked harl-pointed sandstone, while the rear elevation consists of rubble, with a harled lean-to addition at the center of the cottages.

The northeast elevation presents a symmetrical grouping. There is a lean-to canopy with a projecting gable over the central gabled bay, which includes a boarded door and a rectangular fanlight above. A hay motif is carved in a plaque in the gablehead, indicating the year 1882. Each of the flanking bays has a tripartite window at ground level, and there is a gabled bipartite dormer window above. Each of the outer three-bay groups has a gabled canopy with a boarded door and a rectangular plate glass fanlight above. The inner bays feature tripartite windows at ground level and gabled bipartite dormer windows above, while the outer bays are gabled with bipartite windows in the gablehead.

The southwest elevation includes a harled single-storey lean-to addition at the center bay of each cottage.

The cottages have timber lying-pane sash and case windows, and the brick stacks are topped with bracketed coping. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1995.
