Description
Crumstane is an early 19th-century house that has undergone later alterations and additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with harled walls and droved red sandstone dressings, featuring narrow strip quoins.
On the southeast elevation, the three bays are grouped towards the center. There is a deep-set nine-panelled door with a four-pane fanlight above it at ground level, with a window above on the first floor. Each flanking bay has a window on both storeys.
The northwest elevation includes a two-storey projection in the center and a bay to the left, along with a further single-storey addition. There is a window on the first floor in the bay to the right.
The northeast elevation has two bays, with a window on each floor of both bays. The ground floor window on the right and the first-floor window on the left are blinded. There is a two-storey, two-bay addition that is set back slightly, with windows on each floor, and a window in the single-storey addition.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is piended slate with wallhead brick stacks on the northeast and southwest elevations, as well as on the northwest elevation of the two-storey projection.
The interior was not seen in 1995. There is also an auxiliary building to the southwest, which is later in date and constructed of whinstone and brick with a piended slate roof.
