Burnlea, Coldingham

Burnlea is an early 19th century house with later additions and alterations. It is a 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan building with a single-storey, piended addition on the side. The exterior is harled with droved dressings, featuring a base course, narrow quoin strips, droved margins, and flush cills.

On the southwest (entrance) elevation, there are steps leading to a modern timber panelled door that is centered at the ground level, topped by a plate glass fanlight. There are single windows flanking this door at the ground level and one window in each of the three bays on the first floor. The single-storey addition to the outer right has a part-glazed timber door with narrow side-lights, while a boarded timber door is located in a rubble wall to the outer left.

The southeast (side) elevation features a gable end with a small attic light offset to the left of center, and there are two small windows in the single-storey addition projecting at ground level.

The windows predominantly have 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The main block has a grey slate roof, while the single-storey addition has a pantiled roof. There are coped and rendered apex stacks with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The site is partially enclosed by rubble boundary walls.
