Description
Scrogend, located in Houndwood, is possibly a late 18th century house that has undergone later additions and alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan building, with two bays on the first floor. To the left, there is a single-storey range, while to the right, a later two-storey, single-bay addition is slightly recessed. Additionally, there is a single-storey lean-to addition that is recessed to the outer right.
The southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, features the principal block with a boarded timber door located off-center to the left. Flanking this door are single windows at ground level, and on the first floor, there is one window to the outer right and another window off-center to the left. The single-storey range to the left has a timber panelled door on the right and a window on the left. The full-height addition to the right has single windows on both floors, and the lean-to addition is recessed to the outer right.
The building predominantly has 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, although there is a modern window at ground level on the right. The roofs are pantiled, and the principal block features stone-coped skews. There are corniced, brick-built apex stacks. The interior was not seen in 1999.
