Description
The Walled Garden at Houndwood House, likely built in the mid-19th century with later additions and alterations, features an irregular plan and is nearly enclosed. It covers approximately 2,500 square meters to the north of Houndwood House. The garden has bowed corners to the northeast and northwest, with part of the wall missing to the southwest and no wall to the southeast, where it is bounded by a stream. The walls are made of coped, harl-pointed rubble with red brick inner linings. There are various early 20th-century greenhouses attached to the inner elevation of the north wall, and single-storey potting sheds on the outer elevation. The layout is compartmentalized, with several formal paths. A decorative two-leaf iron entrance gate is located to the south, along with boarded timber doors.
