Description

Later to late 19th century. Rectangular-plan walled garden (approximately 6,000m?). Tall, coped, squared and tooled pink sandstone rubble walls (heavily-pointed in part) to NW, NE and SW; low, coped rubble wall to SE; ashlar quoins and long and short surrounds to openings; red brick inner lining to NW. Depressed-arched entrance centred in NW wall with 2-leaf, decorative wrought-iron gate. Round-arched entrances to NE and SW with decorative wrought-iron gates. Lean-to, red brick potting shed range adjoining outer elevation NW wall; remains of lean-to greenhouses adjoining inner elevation, flanking central entrance. Low wall enclosing site to SE with plain iron railings above; square-plan, pyramidal-capped ashlar piers flanking central opening and terminating wall to outer left and right. Separate brick-built gatepiers to SE with 2-leaf, decorative wrought-iron gate.
