Description
The boundary walls, railings, gatepiers, and gates at West Lodge, Hutton Castle, date from around 1876. They feature low, coped, coursed, and tooled pink sandstone walls that flank the entrance to West Lodge. Above these walls are modern decorative iron railings with spearheaded finials. To the outer right, there is a pyramidal-capped, square-plan sandstone pier, while the lodge is located to the outer left. Flanking the central opening are corniced, square-plan, channelled pink sandstone ashlar gatepiers. The entrance is completed by two-leaf decorative iron gates, also adorned with spearheaded finials.
