Description

The Walled Garden at Ninewells House dates from the earlier 19th century and features an irregular five-sided plan, covering approximately 3,000 square meters. The garden is enclosed by tall, coped walls that are swept in part, constructed with harl-pointed, tooled cream sandstone rubble on the outer elevations. The inner linings consist of a mix of part coursed and tooled cream sandstone, along with tooled cream sandstone rubble, and the east wall has a red brick lining. Access is provided by boarded timber doors. In the northeast corner, there is a lean-to conservatory with a roof that is part glazed and part corrugated iron. Additionally, there is a lean-to structure that may have been a former potting shed, which adjoins the outer elevation to the east. A separate single-storey, rectangular-plan ancillary structure made of brick is located to the northeast.
