Description
The Walled Garden at Renton House dates back to the early 19th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a rectangular plan and is a three-sided walled garden, covering approximately 5,500 square meters, situated on a sloping site to the northeast of Renton House. The garden is enclosed by tall rubble walls, which are coped and partially whitewashed, with a red brick inner lining on the northeast side. There is no wall on the southwest side.
In the northeast wall, there are remains of a lean-to greenhouse that has a brick base and a central gable, although the glazing is missing. To the northwest, there is a brick-built, single-storey, rectangular-plan former potting shed or store, which has part of its roof missing. A small stone stair with squat, square-plan newels leads to the southwest. Additionally, a modern single-storey, brick-built house has been erected in the northern corner, accessed through a new opening in the western corner.
