Description
Ivy Bank and Ivy Bank Curios is a mid-19th century building that has undergone later additions and alterations. It is a single-storey structure with an attic, featuring a six-bay range arranged in groups of three, with a single-storey addition on the left and a single-storey garage, possibly a former gig house, on the right. The exterior is finished in whitewashed harl with painted quoin strips and margins.
On the south elevation, the left side houses a three-bay cottage known as 'Ivy Bank'. It has a modern boarded timber door in the center at ground level, a fanlight above, and a bracketed canopy. There are single windows flanking the door at ground level, and gabled dormerheads above the windows that break the eaves, with a lintel on the right dated '1846'. The single-storey addition on the outer left features a boarded timber door and a small window to the right. To the right is a three-bay shop called 'Ivy Bank Curios', which has steps leading up to a part-glazed boarded timber door in the center, a fanlight above, and large 19th-century plate glass shop windows flanking the door. There is also a gabled dormerhead above the central window. The garage/gig house on the outer right has a modern garage door.
The north elevation was not visible in 1999. The building features 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, with some modern dormer windows and plate glass shop windows. The roof is covered in grey slate, with stone-coped skews, while the garage/gig house has a pantiled roof. There is a brick-built ridge stack at the center and an apex stack to the west, along with a corniced sandstone apex stack to the east and various circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1999.
