Description
Plainfield is an early 19th century house that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey building with three bays arranged towards the centre and a single-storey addition to the northwest. The exterior is constructed from harl-pointed whinstone and sandstone rubble, featuring droved ashlar dressings and windows of irregular sizes.
On the northeast elevation, there is a modern boarded door with a six-pane upper glazed panel located centrally, with a window above it on the first floor. Each of the flanking bays has a window on both floors. The single-storey addition to the right has a door positioned roughly in the centre.
The southwest elevation includes a modern brick single-storey lean-to addition in the right bay, which features a two-leaf double boarded door and a boarded door at the single-storey addition to the left. The house has 12-pane and 8-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof, and brick wallhead stacks on the side elevation, with coped skews.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1995.
