Description

Broomhill is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with a half-basement and a three-bay front, featuring a substantial projecting addition at the rear. The exterior is constructed of harl-pointed whinstone rubble with droved ashlar dressings on the southwest elevation and rear projection, while the southeast elevation is harled.

On the southwest elevation, there are four steps leading up to a central panelled door, which has six upper glazed panels. Above the door is a rectangular four-pane fanlight, and there is a window on the first floor. Each of the flanking bays has a window on both storeys, and there is a window at the basement level of the right bay.

The southeast elevation features a window at ground level and another at the basement level of the right bay.

The northeast elevation includes a two-storey addition in the centre. The left bay is blank, and there is a blinded window in the right bay on the first floor. The return southeast elevation of the projection has four irregularly spaced bays, with a modern upper-glazed door on the outer left and a window above it on the first floor. Each bay has a window on the first floor, while the inner left bay is blank at ground level, and the inner right bay has a window at ground level. There is a two-leaf double boarded door, possibly leading to a garage, on the outer right.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is slate, and there are droved ashlar wallhead stacks on the side gabled elevations.

Inside, the principal rooms on the ground floor feature a white marble chimneypiece and a truncated black marble chimneypiece, with some shutters still in place.

The boundary wall to the southwest is a tall rubble wall with rubble coping and droved ashlar at the opening to the southeast.
