Preston Road Cemetery, Duns

Preston Road Cemetery, located to the northeast of Duns, dates from the later 19th century. It is enclosed by sandstone walls and gates. The boundary wall is constructed of rubble and features semi-circular coping on the eastern, southern, and western sides. The southern entrance is marked by ashlar gatepiers that have a base course, cornice, and flat pyramidal caps, with flanking quadrant walls that are also terminated by similar piers. The entrance is adorned with cast-iron spearheaded gates. Although the cemetery has been extended to the north, several monuments remain attached to the former enclosing wall, which has been rebuilt at the sides. Notable monuments include a tripartite Greek monument with acroteria and anthemion cresting, as well as a Gothic Revival monument supported on corbels with marble columns.
