Description

Kirklands is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay villa featuring Tudor detailing. The building is constructed from snecked and stugged cream sandstone, complemented by ashlar dressings.

On the south elevation, there are Tudor hoodmoulds with pendant label-stops at the ground level, chamfered reveals, and a base course. The central entrance features a panelled door with a two-pane rectangular fanlight and a window above. The right bay has a bipartite window at the ground level and a single window above, while the left bay is advanced and gabled, showcasing a tripartite window at the ground level and a bipartite window above. The gable is shouldered and topped with a carved finial.

The west elevation is harled and includes exposed ashlar quoin strips with long and short quoins. There is a slightly advanced shouldered gable on the right side with windows on both floors, featuring chamfered reveals.

The east elevation has a blank shouldered gable, and the north elevation is constructed from rubble with an advanced gabled jamb at the centre.

The villa features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, grey slate roofing, ashlar coped moulded skews, and flat skewputts. Brick stacks are located at the apex, and there are decorative cast-iron rainwater heads with buckle fixtures on the downpipe.

The boundary wall along Easter Street is made of rubble with ashlar coping, and there are square ashlar gatepiers that support a boarded door with elaborate wrought-iron hinges.
