Description
Eastwood is a post-1865, two-storey, three-bay villa with a rectangular plan and Tudoresque details. The front is finished in ashlar with ashlar margins and dressings, while the gables and rear are constructed from whinstone rubble. The building features a base course, quoin strips, projecting eaves, and exposed rafters. The ground floor has basket-arched windows.
On the west elevation, the gable on the outer right is slightly advanced and includes a full-height canted bay. There is a decorative trefoil band between the floors and a slate roof. The entrance features a Tudor-arched door with a stepped hoodmould, a panelled door with a plate glass fanlight, and a half-glazed door. To the left, there is a slightly advanced tripartite window with a shallow balcony, which has a similarly pierced design but is overpainted. Above, a gabled dormer breaks the eaves and contains a Tudor-arched window.
The villa has plate glass timber sash and case windows, as well as 12-pane timber sash and case windows on the gables. The roof is covered in grey slate with lead flashings, and there are corniced ridge stacks with octagonal cans.
Inside, the villa features plain cornices, a cast-iron barley-sugar balustered stair, and an elaborate marble fireplace in the sitting room, which originally came from Hartfield House, now demolished.
The boundary wall is made of whinstone with harl pointing and quartz coping. The gatepiers have chamfered arrises and pyramidal caps.
