Ashcraig, Shore Road, Cove And Kilcreggan

Ashcraig is a later 19th-century villa, built after 1865. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a gabled roof. The exterior is constructed from whinstone, featuring sandstone margins and dressings, chamfered reveals, a base course, stugged quoins, projecting eaves, exposed rafters, and decorative bargeboards.

On the main elevation, there is a broad, slightly advanced gable on the outer left. This side includes a full-height canted bay topped with a modillion cornice and a slate roof. To the right of the bay is a two-leaf door with a timber two-pane fanlight above it. There is a narrow tripartite window at the ground level to the outer right and a round-headed window above it, with the gable breaking the eaves. The gables are harled, with windows located on the outer right and left of the north and south elevations.

The villa features four-pane plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with lead flashings, and decorative bargeboards. It also has a sandstone wallhead stack with octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1993.

The boundary wall is made of whinstone with harl pointing and quartz pebble coping, curving concavely towards the gatepiers. The gatepiers are rusticated with pyramidal caps, and the property is accessed through decorative cast-iron gates featuring star and arcade motifs.
