Benvue, Argyll Road, Kilcreggan

Benvue is a later 19th century villa, built after 1865, located on Argyll Road in Kilcreggan. This two-storey, two-bay building features a single-storey scullery bay on the outer left. It is constructed of whinstone with sandstone margins and dressings, and has chamfered reveals, a base course, and quoins. The villa has projecting eaves with exposed rafters and trefoil-ended rafters on the main elevation.

On the south (garden) elevation, the main block has two bays with the entrance located on the right return and a single-storey, half-piend block to the outer left. There is an advanced gable to the outer left, featuring a full-height canted bay with a slate roof. The block to the right has a tripartite window at ground level and a round-headed, gabled dormer window above. To the right of the right return, there is a four-panelled door with a two-pane fanlight and an ashlar balustrade above.

The north elevation includes a window on both the outer left and right, with a stair window at the centre directly under the eaves, which has a coloured glass border. The main elevation features plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the north elevation and gable have 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has lead flashings, corniced ridge stacks, and square grouped chimney cans.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The property is enclosed by a boundary wall made of whinstone rubble with semicircular coping, and there are painted ashlar gate piers with pointed caps.
