Description

Dunvorleigh is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay villa located on Rosneath Road in Cove and Kilcreggan. It features a rectangular plan with Tudoresque details and includes a single bay addition from the 1930s. The exterior is constructed of red sandstone ashlar with polished stone margins and dressings, showcasing chamfered arrises, a base course, hoodmoulds with label stops, advanced eaves with exposed rafters, timber mullions and transoms, and decorative bargeboarded gables.

The west elevation, which is the main front, has three asymmetrical bays and a single-storey lean-to with a screen wall bay on the outer left. To the outer right, there is a two-storey entrance bay addition from the 1930s. The left side features a tall, advanced gable with a square projecting bay that has two windows and ashlar corniced coping. A large tripartite Tudor-arched window is located on the first floor. There is a flat-roofed porch in the re-entrant angle to the right, which has battlemented coping and a shoulder-arched door on the right return with stop-chamfered arrises. A narrow shouldered arched window is present to the west, along with a timber mullion and transom. Additionally, there is a small segmental-headed plate glass window on the first floor, and a tripartite window at ground right with a raised cill and a three-centre arched dormerhead featuring a bargeboarded gable above, along with a latticed carved and bracketed cill. The 1930s cement-rendered bay addition on the outer right has a moulded and chamfered door in reconstituted stone with a lintel, and metal casement windows.

The east elevation is asymmetrical, finished in rough grey harl with painted ashlar margins and quoins. It features a tall gable breaking the eaves to the outer right and two bays to the left, along with a single-storey service block to the outer right.

The windows include plate glass with upper panes of leaded decorative stained glass, as well as 12-pane and 4-pane sash and case windows at the rear. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a rendered ridge stack with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1993.
