Aidenburn Cottage, Shore Road, Kilcreggan

Aidenburn Cottage is a mid 19th century single-storey, three-bay L-plan cottage villa located on Shore Road in Kilcreggan. The cottage is rendered and features polished sandstone margins and dressings, hoodmoulds, a base course, quoin strips, advanced eaves, and exposed rafters.

The west elevation has an advanced decorative gable with bargeboarding at the centre, a four-panelled door at ground level, and a first-floor corbelled and jettied section above that includes a round-headed window and a sunken rectangular panel below it. There are flanking windows with hoodmoulds.

On the east elevation, there is a gabled jamb at the rear to the north, with a lower single-storey scullery block in the re-entrant angle to the south.

Both the north and south elevations are gabled and feature round-headed windows at the gable heads, along with single-storey service blocks.

The cottage has four-pane plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, and rendered and coped ridge stacks.

The property is complemented by a simple decorative panelled wooden gate with wooden piers, alongside a rubble whinstone wall with rubble coping.
