Description

Glenlea is a mid-19th century single storey and attic cottage villa with a gabled, rectangular plan. It features three bays and has a single storey service block to the left. The exterior is constructed from sandstone ashlar with polished margins and dressings, chamfered reveals, a base course, advanced eaves, and exposed rafters.

On the southwest elevation, there is a broad gable on the outer left with a quadripartite projecting window at ground level, a diaper cornice, and a lead roof. Above this is a broad tripartite, three-centred window made of timber with mullions and transoms, complete with a hoodmould. To the right, there is a four-panelled door with a large plate glass fanlight above it. A tripartite window is located at ground level on the outer right, with a gable breaking the eaves over a pointed-arch window above. The single storey block to the outer left is slightly recessed and has two closely spaced windows.

The northeast elevation is harled and features a broad gable on the outer right. At the centre of the first floor, there is a window, while at ground level, there is a half-piend roofed scullery and a window to the left. There are two narrow windows symmetrically positioned to the left at both ground and first floors, along with two more windows at ground level on the outer left, the leftmost of which is larger.

The windows throughout the building include plate glass timber sash and case windows, 4-pane sash and case windows, and 4-pane over 6-pane sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and features lead flashings, with a corniced apex stack topped with octagonal cans.

The boundary wall is made of rubble with a cement wet dash finish and has quartz boulder coping. The gatepiers are made of ashlar with stop-chamfered arrises and depressed pyramidal caps.
