Winton, Rosneath Road, Cove And Kilcreggan

Winton is a cottage villa built after 1865, featuring two stories and a rectangular plan with three bays. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar, with ashlar margins and dressings, a base course, hoodmoulds, chamfered arrises, advanced eaves, and exposed rafters.

The main elevation faces southwest and consists of three bays. The broad gable on the outer left is advanced, with a quadripartite window at the ground level, a diaper cornice, and a blocking course, topped by a decorative wrought-iron balcony. There is a large three-centred window in the gablehead, complete with a hoodmould and a plaque above. To the right, a door features a hoodmould, a two-leaf panelled door, a large plate glass fanlight, and a half-glazed inner door, with a modern rooflight above. A tripartite window is located at the ground right, also with a hoodmould, and a dormerhead breaks the eaves above, featuring another three-centred window.

The windows are primarily plate glass timber sash and case, although some have been replaced with uPVC. The roof is covered with grey slate, with lead flashings and corniced ashlar ridge stacks that have circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The boundary wall and gatepiers are made of whinstone rubble with harl pointing, featuring large quartz sea boulders that curve towards the gatepiers, which are constructed from ashlar with corniced caps.
