Lethington, Rosneath Road, Cove And Kilcreggan

Lethington is a post-1865, two-storey, three-bay villa located on Rosneath Road in Cove and Kilcreggan. The building features an asymmetrical gabled design with Italianate Romanesque details. It is constructed from honey-coloured sandstone ashlar with polished sandstone dressings and includes pilaster mullions and a base course. The projecting eaves and exposed rafters add to its architectural character.

The southeast elevation, which is the main façade, has three bays. The gable on the outer right is slightly advanced, and there is a broad bow with pilaster mullions and a dentil cornice topped by a lead roof. A bipartite window in Romanesque style is set into a round-arched opening, featuring an ashlar tympanum adorned with circle and triangle motifs, along with a small plaque in the gablehead. To the left, there is a pilastered and corniced door with a two-leaf panelled door and a half-glazed vestibule door, complemented by a small round-arched window directly beneath the eaves. A tripartite window is positioned at the ground outer left, featuring an ashlar cornice on brackets, while the gable breaks the eaves above a round-arched window on the first floor.

The villa has plate glass and uPVC windows, a grey slate roof with lead flashings, and timber bargeboards. The ridge stacks are corniced with decorative square cans.

The boundary wall and gatepiers consist of a whinstone wall with harl-pointing and quartz rubble coping. The gatepiers are plain Egypto-style ashlar with a low pyramidal cap on a raised base. The interior was not seen in 1993.
