Whistlefield Cottage, Portincaple

Whistlefield Cottage is a single-storey, three-bay cottage villa built in the later 19th century, featuring a two-bay wing that is recessed to the right. The exterior is constructed from stugged, squared, and snecked honey-coloured sandstone, accented with polished sandstone margins and dressings. It has a base course, strip quoins, and projecting bracketed eaves.

The main elevation presents three symmetrical bays with roll-moulded arrises. The entrance features a segmental-arched, two-leaf, four-panelled door topped with a plate glass fanlight, flanked by canted windows. The lower two-bay wing is recessed to the right and includes a modern forestair at the right return.

The cottage has plate glass sash and case windows and a grey slate roof adorned with terracotta perforated cresting and finials. The ashlar corniced wallhead stacks are topped with octagonal cans, and a decorative cast-iron waterhead is retained.

Inside, there is a simple layout with a central hall and a good painted glass inner half-glazed door.
