Elderberry, The Shore, Garelochhead

Elderberry, located on The Shore in Garelochhead, is a mid-19th century single-storey cottage with a symmetrical, rectangular plan featuring five bays. The exterior is finished in grey-painted harl with painted sandstone margins and dressings, along with quoin strips.

The southeast elevation showcases a three-bay main cottage flanked by lower pavilion-type bays on either side. At the center, there is a deep-set door that is boarded and topped with a two-pane fanlight, accompanied by flanking windows. The cottage features half-piended dormers, and the outer bays on the right and left are slightly recessed with their own windows.

The windows are 12-lying-pane sash and case types, while the dormers have plate glass casements. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes a rooflight at the center, along with half-piended pavilions. Corniced sandstone stacks are present at the apex of the roof.

Surrounding the property is a low rubble boundary wall topped with semi-circular coping.
