Benvarran House With Boundary Walls, Shore Road, Kilcreggan

Benvarran House is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay villa with a rectangular plan. The exterior features rough harl with polished pink sandstone margins and dressings, a base course, a string course, quoin strips, advanced eaves, and exposed rafters.

The main elevation has three nearly symmetrical bays. There are steps leading up to a pilastered and pedimented door at the center, which has a four-panelled design and a six-pane fanlight above. To the outer left is a canted window, and to the outer right is a slightly advanced, corniced window, both featuring six-pane sash and case windows. The first floor windows are symmetrically arranged.

On the south elevation, there is a gable with a door at the center and a window above. The east (rear) elevation consists of four asymmetrical bays, with a lean-to wooden porch over the original rear door located at the penultimate bay on the left. The property includes four-pane timber sash and case windows, a twelve-lying-pane window, and uPVC windows on the first floor and at the rear. The roof is covered with grey slate and features broad, corniced sandstone ridge stacks.

The boundary wall is made of low whinstone rubble with harl-pointing and has ashlar slab coping. There are also ashlar piers with caps.
