Lodge With Gate Piers And Boundary Wall, Easter Road, Wellfield, Duns

This late 19th-century lodge is a compact single-storey building with a symmetrical three-bay layout, featuring a modern flat-roofed dry-dashed extension at the rear. It is constructed from cream squared and snecked bull-faced sandstone with ashlar dressings. The lodge has a base course and chamfered angles that sweep to a square at the overhanging eaves. It includes bipartite windows with stop-chamfered reveals and ashlar canopies. The entrance is highlighted by a canted Tuscan Doric columned porch with a piended roof, which has a modern door and a rectangular plate glass fanlight, along with flanking windows. There are also windows on the single bay returns.

The windows are timber sash and case, with a 9-pane upper sash and a 2-pane lower sash. The lodge has a piended roof covered with grey slates and a central coped stop-chamfered ashlar stack.

The gatepiers and boundary wall consist of square ashlar gatepiers with chamfered arrises, a cornice, coping stone, and single sunken panels. There is a pedestrian ashlar gateway attached to the east, featuring chamfered reveals at the opening, along with a coped rubble boundary wall.
