Description
This is a triple span bridge located over the Tyne Water in Easter Pencaitland, dated 1510, with a later parapet added. The bridge is constructed from large blocks of coursed sandstone and features chamfered reveals leading to pointed arches. The central arch has a ribbed soffit. On the south side, there is a heraldic plaque dated to the Sinclairs, positioned to the left of the central arch. The bridge includes flanking overflow arches that are divided by buttresses. The parapet is made of rubble and has droved raised blocks that interrupt its surface, along with coping. Square piers at the ends of the bridge are topped with pyramidal caps.
