Description
The Vicarage is a former vicarage that has been converted into a private house. It dates from the late 16th century and has been significantly altered and extended in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks, featuring a high chamfered plinth and repairs in purplish-brown brick below the eaves of the 16th-century section, while the 19th-century addition is made of red brick. The roofs are plain and machine tiled, and the building has two storeys throughout.
The 16th-century part includes mullioned and transomed windows, all of which have been renewed, positioned to the left and right of a central six-panel door, with the upper panels now glazed, situated under a 20th-century gabled timber porch. The 19th-century addition consists of one bay to the left and two bays to the right, with a slightly projecting gable on the left and a prominent lateral stack on the right that features diaper patterns in blue brick. This section also has mullioned and transomed windows and a dentil eaves cornice. Additionally, there are various late 19th-century two-storey extensions at the rear.
