Description

This is a 19th-century cast iron milepost located in front of Whitegates on the west side of Main Road in Betley. The milepost has a triangular shape with a chamfered top and a round-headed plate. It is painted and features inscriptions that read: "Parish of Betley. BASFORD 3 miles, NANTWICH 7 1/2 miles, NEWCASTLE 8 miles, KEELE 5 miles."
