Description
This is a 19th-century milepost located at the junction of Main Street and Hollyhock Way in Branston. It is made of hollow cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The milepost is painted white, featuring raised black lettering and a black painted base. The inscriptions indicate distances: on the left, "ARLEWAS 5 LICHFIELD 10"; on the right, "BURTON 2 ¼"; and on the top, "BRANSTONE PARISH." This milepost is well-preserved in its original location and is part of a group of similar structures in East Staffordshire, highlighting the significance of road transport in the 19th century.
