GV II Milepost. C19. Hollow cast iron triangular with sloping top. Painted white with raised lettering in black. There is an oval hole in the left side of the base. Inscription reads: Left: ARLEWAS 4 LICHFIELD 9 Right: BURTON 3 ¼ Top: DUNSTALL PARISH
SUMMARY OF IMPORTANCE: This milepost survives well in its original location and forms part of a group, many of which are listed, marking out routes in East Staffordshire. Mileposts are reminders of the growing importance of road transport of people and goods in the C19. As a good example of a milepost in situ it fully merits listing.
