Description

Laburnum Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 16th century with later additions from the late 18th century. It is constructed of timber framing and red brick, with some areas rendered and painted. The roof is covered with plain tiles, featuring a single gable and two ridge stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a projecting, timber-framed rear wing.

The street facade has a centrally positioned doorway featuring a panelled door within a wooden surround and a small gabled hood. To the right of the doorway is a two-light casement window with glazing bars and a segmental head. Another similar window is positioned to the left. Above, three gabled dormer windows echo the style of the lower windows. The north gable is timber-framed. The rear wing represents the final bay of the original three-bay cottage and has a gable end facing the street. The ground floor rear wall is rendered and features a small two-light casement and a plank door.

The interior retains much of the original timber frame, featuring large, chamfered beams, exposed stud positions, contemporary plank doors, and an inglenook fireplace.
