Description
Five Steppes is a house dating from the early 17th century. It has a timber frame with brick infill panels and is covered with a corrugated asbestos roof that mimics thatch. The house features a brick ridge stack and an integral end stack.
The building has one storey and an attic, with two tiers of rectangular panels and straight braces at the original eaves level. Above this, there is a band of weather-boarding that encloses the edge of the thatched roof. The windows are arranged irregularly, with two on the ground floor, including a 20th-century bow window to the right, and two in the attic, one of which is a gabled dormer to the left. There are two doors that are accessed by steps. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to contain a timber framed smoke bay.
