Description
The Square is a cottage that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, but it was largely rebuilt around 1830. It features a combination of timber framing and brick construction, topped with a plain tile roof that has overhanging eaves. The building is two stories high and has three bays, with four shallow brick pilasters. The central doorway is framed by a reeded wooden surround and features a panel door with an overlight above. On either side of the door are single three-light glazing bar casements with segmental brick heads. Above the door, there is a central two-light window flanked by single similar three-light windows, all with segmental brick heads. The south gable wall is timber-framed, and there is a rear brick wing from the 18th century. This building is included in the listing for its group value context.
