Description

Walnut Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the east side of Main Road in Betley. It is timber-framed with brick infill panels, and some brick replacement, topped by a tile roof. A brick stack is integrated into one end. The cottage is single-cell, aligned north-south and facing south. It has a single storey with a gable-lit attic, featuring three tiers of square panels to the eaves level, with straight braces and long straight tension braces. The south front has a central door flanked by a pair of two-light casement windows. Above the door is a three-light attic casement. The roof has a collar and tie beam truss with V-struts above the collar and vertical struts below.
