Description

The Thatched Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the south side of Barford Road in South Newington. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a hipped thatched roof and a brick end stack to the left. The cottage has a two-unit plan and a single storey plus an attic. A 20th-century door to the left has a wooden lintel and a gabled hood. Three 20th-century windows are present on the ground floor, each with a wooden lintel. A swept dormer to the attic features a two-light casement. Internally, the cottage has a chamfered beam and bressumer to the fireplace, along with a winder stair. The attic bedrooms contain common rafters and a ridge piece.
