Description
No. 23 Lombard Street is a house, now used as offices, built around 1810. It is constructed of brick and features a tile roof with a brick cross-axial stack. The building stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range, following a double-depth plan in the Georgian style. The top is adorned with a modillioned brick cornice. The entrance includes a doorcase with panelled pilasters and long brackets supporting the cornice, along with an overlight that has decorative glazing bars above a four-fielded-panel door. The windows are set with sills and have rubbed brick flat arches over twelve-pane sashes on the ground and first floors, while the second floor features nine-pane sashes. There are indications that the windows may have originally been wider; the ground and first-floor windows have wider flat arches that are grooved and mortared to resemble ordinary brickwork, which is an unusual feature.
